11/24/2023 0 Comments Anno 1800 not on steam![]() The game was available to pre-order until this date and Ubisoft continued to support it on Steam with updates and DLC for existing owners. I believe that Steam never successfully told Ubisoft Connect I bought the game and that the Activation DLC kept failing to install without giving notice.Anno 1800 was removed from sale on Steam on the same day that it was set to be released, April 16th, 2019. ![]() I remembered the install never completed step 2/2, which is the Activation DLC. When I went to refund the game on Steam, that's when I noticed the Anno 1800 Activation DLC was also being refunded. My other Steam-bought games like Far Cry 4 are listed on on my account. I figured it out because I noticed had no record I owned Anno 1800. It wasn't a problem with running the actual game, which once installed, runs flawlessly. My hope is you can fix this for other people having the problem. The problem was solved by buying the game on Ubisoft Connect and launching it via admin mode. This doesn't make a difference, both versions do not work, but it added to my confusion when tracking this down. The full version has to be downloaded from Ubisoft directly. Updating Ubisoft Connect to the latest version within the Ubisoft Connect app does not give you the full version. The one included with Anno 1800 only has the News and Games tabs. The one that comes with Anno 1800 is a limited version that does not include the Ubisoft Store, Ubisoft+, and other features. Even if you have the most up-to-date version of Ubisoft Connect, they are different. Ubisoft has multiple versions and deployments of Ubisoft Connect. Uninstalling and reinstalling in Steam with Admin mode will not successfully complete the installation. This part of the install seems to fail without giving an indication. I'm guessing the "Anno 1800 Activation DLC" is what activates my game. The 2/2 is when it installs Ubisoft Connect and the Anno 1800 Activation DLC. When installing via Steam, the installer fails after step 1/2 reaches 100% without giving indication. Steam never correctly installs the Anno 1800 Activation DLC. The failure happens during installation on Steam. The problem is within the Steam-Ubisoft Connect handshake and Activation installation. ![]() I have found a possible source for the problem. My other Steam games, like Far Cry 4, do appear in the Ubisoft Connect games list. Anno 1800 does not appear in my Ubisoft Connect games list. I've also tried manually starting Ubisoft Connect in admin mode before launching the game, and it doesn't make a difference. I'm really hoping for an update before then!Īfter re-installing both Anno and Ubisoft Connect, verifying files, updating drivers, restarting, and setting Steam, Ubisoft Connect, and Anno.exe to all run in Admin mode.Ĭlicking Play in Steam starts the Anno.exe briefly in task manager, then a Windows Crash instance is created in the task manager for a split second and both crash. I only have 14 days for a refund, and I've never asked for a refund before. I tried all the suggestions in the Trello post and none of them worked for me. I bought the game for the first time on Steam because of the sale on Dec 9.
